Hannibal Lecter to Inspector G. Lestrade

Inspector G. Lestrade appears in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s first Sherlock Holmes story A Study in Scarlet and 12 more stories. Lestrade is described by Holmes as ‘an imbecile’.

Dr. Hannibal Lecter features in The Silence of the Lambs and other novels by Thomas Harris. A brilliant, sophisticated, psychiatrist, Lecter also is a cannibal and serial killer who has killed people merely for being rude.

Lestrade seeks Holmes' help on cases just as the FBI seek Lecter’s help in catching other serial killers. Lestrade’s energy would lead him to approach Lecter yet his rudeness is likely to antagonise the sociopath.
