We meet Thursday E. Next in Jasper Fforde’s The Eyre Affair. She was recruited into the Special Operations Network, where she joined the London division after a career in the police force and the military. Thursday first discovered bookjumping* as an eight-year old; Mrs. Nakajima helped her into the manuscript for Jane Eyre during a visit to Haworth House.

Tricia Marie McMillan, aka Trillian Astra, appears in Douglas Adams' The Restaurant at the End of the Galaxy. An astrophysicist and mathematician, she is now on a spaceship with Zaphod Beeblebrox, Arthur Dent and the clinically depressed robot Marvin.
